The central theme of this profile of Park Joon-geum is smiling eye lines and a soft oval face. We examine the visible contours and placement of the features in seven steps, starting with the overall face shape and ending with how its lines and surfaces fit together.

Step 1: Face Shape — The Outline of the Cheeks and Jaw

It has an oval shape that gradually narrows from the cheek to the chin. When smiling, the cheekbones become rounded.

Even within the large oval frame, the width of the cheekbones and chin are not the same. If you follow the speed from the widest part of the face down to the tip of the chin, you can see changes in the outline that are not revealed by length alone.

Step 2: Forehead — Between the Hairline and Brows

The forehead is exposed through the side parting, and the hair surrounds one border.

You should look at the shape of the exposed part of the forehead and the hair on both sides. Since the parting and bangs are the lines that divide the upper margin, there is no need to immediately interpret the asymmetry seen in the photo as asymmetry of the forehead itself.

Step 3: Eyes — Eyelid Curves and Horizontal Length

When smiling, the eyes narrow and short lines appear at the corners of the eyes.

In photos with facial expressions, the vertical width of the eyes and the height of the cheeks below the eyes change. If you look at the curve of the lower eyelid rather than just looking at one point at the corner of the eye, you can read the movement of the center of the face more specifically.

Step 4: Eyebrows — The Lines Above the Eyes

The eyebrows are thin and long, with low arches on the outside.

The low eyebrows can be compared side by side with the horizontal line of the eyes. Looking at where the eyebrows start and end and how thin they become at the ends reveals the relationship between the two overlapping lines at the top.

Step 5: Nose — The Central Line and Depth

The bridge of the nose falls relatively straight and the tip of the nose is round.

The tip of the nose and both nostrils are areas where small curved surfaces are gathered. If you look at the widening border on both sides instead of just looking at the bright side in the center, you can see the width that changes from the bridge of the nose to the bottom of the nose.

Step 6: Mouth and Chin — Expression and the Lower Face

Lips and Mouth Corners

In a slightly open smile, the corners of the mouth rise and the curve of the lower lip is visible.

Jawline and Chin

The jawline gathers gently, leaving a round width at the tip of the small chin.

When the mouth opens or the corners of the mouth rise, the width of the mouth and the space left up to the chin also change. If you look at the raised position of the cheeks and the tip of the chin together rather than just the lips, you can see the process by which a smile changes the ratio of the lower jaw.

Step 7: Overall Balance — Smiling Eye Lines and a Soft Oval Face

Park Joon-geum's eyes and lips each create a clear boundary in the center of the face. If you look at it along with the outline that narrows to the chin, you can read how the lines of the facial features and the curves of the cheeks are arranged.

Park Joon-geum's Facial Features at a Glance

  • Face shape: Oval shape that gradually narrows from the cheeks to the chin.
  • Eyes: When smiling, the eyes narrow and short lines appear at the corners of the eyes.

Together, these features show how the face's outer contour relates to the eyes and lower face. Looking at the connections between lines and surfaces helps explain the overall balance visible in this photograph.
