The central theme of this profile of Kim Young-kwang is long vertical lines and a nose seen in profile. We examine the visible contours and placement of the features in seven steps, starting with the overall face shape and ending with how its lines and surfaces fit together.
Step 1: Face Shape — The Outline of the Cheeks and Jaw
The long vertical outline extending from the cheekbones to the chin stands out. The face is turned to the side, emphasizing the line of one cheek.
In this composition, the border from one cheek to the chin is clearly revealed rather than the width of both sides of the face. By connecting the outer line of the cheekbones and the bending point of the chin, you can distinguish between the width of the face and the depth of the sides.
Step 2: Forehead — Between the Hairline and Brows
The bangs cover most of the forehead. It is difficult to compare forehead height as only a small part of the hair is visible.
The end line of the bangs creates a new border on the upper part of the face. By distinguishing between the exposed space above the eyebrows and the space covered by the hair, you can avoid confusing the size of the forehead itself with the blank space created by the hairstyle.
Step 3: Eyes — Eyelid Curves and Horizontal Length

The horizontal length of the eyes is revealed in an oblique gaze. The width of both frontal eyes cannot be compared under the same conditions.
The shape of the eye can be better revealed by dividing it into the horizontal length and vertical opening. The curve of the upper eyelid, the lower border, and the area that tapers to the corner of the eye combine to form a single outline.
Step 4: Eyebrows — The Lines Above the Eyes
Some dark eyebrows are visible under the bangs. The exposed section continues relatively straight.
The visible eyebrow pieces were not drawn to form the full eyebrow shape. If you look at the direction of the confirmed line and the gap between the eyes, you can distinguish between the border of hair or props and the actual eyebrows.
Step 5: Nose — The Central Line and Depth
When viewed from an angle close to the profile, the protrusion of the bridge and tip of the nose is evident. The long bridge of the nose connects the vertical line of the face.
From this angle, both the length of the bridge of the nose and the degree to which the tip of the nose is brought forward are visible. The line where the bright side meets the shadow is also affected by lighting, so you can see the boundary between light and dark and the actual outer outline.
Step 6: Mouth and Chin — Expression and the Lower Face
Lips and Mouth Corners
The mouth is slightly open so you can see between the upper and lower lips. The rounded side of the lower lip catches the light.
Jawline and Chin
The long jaw line gathers downward, leaving a rounded width at the tip of the chin. The border between the neck and chin is also relatively clear.
In scenes where there is a gap between the lips, the boundaries of the upper and lower lips are revealed. If you look at the degree of mouth opening and the space left up to the chin, you can see how momentary movement changes the length of the lower face.
Step 7: Overall Balance — Long Vertical Lines and a Nose Seen in Profile
On Kim Young-kwang's face, the sides of the long nose bridge and the jawline that gathers downward create one flow. If you look at the slightly open mouth and the rounded tip of the chin together, a composition of small curved surfaces within a vertically long outline is revealed.
