The central theme of this profile of Hwang Bo-ra is an open forehead and a long central line. We examine the visible contours and placement of the features in seven steps, starting with the overall face shape and ending with how its lines and surfaces fit together.
Step 1: Face Shape — The Outline of the Cheeks and Jaw
It is a long oval shape that narrows from the cheekbones to the chin. The vertical ratio of the center of the face is clear.
Even within the large oval frame, the width of the cheekbones and chin are not the same. If you follow the speed from the widest part of the face down to the tip of the chin, you can see changes in the outline that are not revealed by length alone.
Step 2: Forehead — Between the Hairline and Brows
Her hair is pulled back, revealing a wide forehead.
In compositions where the forehead is exposed, you can see a wide area extending from the hairline to the eyebrows. Comparing the direction of the upper curve and the lower eyebrows makes it clear what lines surround the upper part of the face.
Step 3: Eyes — Eyelid Curves and Horizontal Length

The horizontal shape of the eyes is visible through the glasses. The outside of the eye overlaps the frame of the glasses.
The circles or straight lines on the glasses frame overlap the actual outline of the eyes. You can examine the horizontal direction of the eye by following only the exposed eyelids and outer corners of the eyes, excluding the frames, but it is difficult to measure the size beyond the lens in precise proportions.
Step 4: Eyebrows — The Lines Above the Eyes
The eyebrows are low and thin, and some of them are hidden by the upper frame of the glasses.
The visible eyebrow pieces were not drawn to form the full eyebrow shape. If you look at the direction of the confirmed line and the gap between the eyes, you can distinguish between the border of hair or props and the actual eyebrows.
Step 5: Nose — The Central Line and Depth
The bridge of the nose extends long beneath the glasses, and the tip of the nose is round.
The shape of the center is revealed only when the line of the prop overlapped on the nose is differentiated from the actual bridge of the nose. In this composition, the part where the uncovered tip of the nose connects to the nasal tip shows the width of the lower part of the nose.
Step 6: Mouth and Chin — Expression and the Lower Face
Lips and Mouth Corners
The center of the closed mouth is thick, and the boundaries between the upper and lower lips are clear.
Jawline and Chin
The jawline gathers thinly and ends with a small chin.
In a closed mouth, the curve in the center of the upper lip and the curved surface of the lower lip can be examined separately. Comparing the horizontal width of the lips to the width of the tip of the chin reveals how small lines and large outlines are placed within the lower face.
Step 7: Overall Balance — An Open Forehead and a Long Central Line
Hwang Bo-ra's open forehead and long nose continue the vertical direction of the face. Since the frames add extra horizontal lines around the eyes, the key to this photo is to distinguish between the outline of the frames and part of the actual eyebrow.
Hwang Bo-ra's Facial Features at a Glance
- Face shape: Long oval that narrows from the cheekbones to the chin.
- Eyes: The horizontal shape of the eyes is visible through the glasses.
